Which running jacket should I choose?
For rain and ultra kit lists, choose the GRID Storm Jacket. It’s fully waterproof and weighs 170g in size S.
For wind and light showers on training runs and shorter races, choose the AROW Windbreaker at 95g. For warmth, choose the AROW Midlayer, worn on its own or under a shell.
Is a windbreaker good for running?
Yes, for wind, light rain, and changing conditions. The AROW Windbreaker is windproof and water repellent, but not waterproof. It folds into its own internal pocket.
A two-way zip, breathable panels under the arms, and laser-cut details on the forearms and back help stop you overheating. A reflective Chance logo makes you visible in low light.
Which jacket meets ultra mandatory kit rules?
The GRID Storm Jacket is ultra-race certified for mandatory kit requirements. It has a storm hood with elastic binding, and a gusseted back that stops it pulling when you wear a pack.
What is Pertex Shield Air, and why PFAS-free?
Pertex Shield Air™ is a 3-layer, ultra-light, air-permeable waterproof fabric. It uses your body heat to push moisture out.
The GRID Storm Jacket was the first to use a PFAS-free version, and the whole jacket is made without PFAS, including the membrane and the water-repellent treatment. The face fabric is 12D recycled nylon, with a 7D nylon tricot backer.
What is the AROW Windbreaker made from?
100% recycled Japanese rip-stop nylon. It uses deadstock and over-order fabric, as part of our Fragments Program.
What does the midlayer do?
The AROW Midlayer keeps you warm in cold weather and on changing terrain. It’s made from fleece-lined Pontetorto® fabric using RENU™ recycled polyester, with a windproof chest panel.
It has a half zip, a high collar, and a zipped chest pocket for gels, gloves, or keys. It weighs 250g in size M.
How do the jackets fit?
All three are unisex with a standard fit. Women should size down, so if you usually wear an S, take an XS.
